The streak is over.

All good things come to an end, as they say.

With a surprising win over Vancouver tonight, the Avs have now jumped up to 28th in the league (tiebreaker). If the season ended today, the Avs would likely be drafting Matt Duchene. He's a speedy center who has had a great season with the Brampton Battalion of the OHL, totaling 31 goals and 48 assists in 57 games.

There's a picture in this video (0:45) of him wearing an Avs jersey, so apparently he's a fan. But who wasn't 10 years ago?

If the Avs draft him, then we should be set at the center position for the next decade, with Duchene as the #1 guy and Stastny as the #2 or "1A" guy. This scenario would make Wolski expendable if he's dead set at playing center.

Peter Budaj won his 20th game of the season tonight. Color me surprised.

T.J. Galiardi look like he's got a bright future ahead of him. He's now potted himself 3 goals in 7 career NHL games. Compare that to Hensick who has 4 goals in 56 games this year.

Galiardi didn't exactly light the AHL up this season (66gp, 10-17-27, -10), but playing with Hejduk seems to have lit a fire underneath him. If he adds a little weight, he could be a mainstay on the Avs (second line LW?) in the coming years.
